Sheer Strength: Sheer Thermo (Fat Burner) Full Review

Sheer Strength is a supplement company based in Texas, their latest product is a fat burner named Sheer Thermo.

In this review we are going to take a look at all of the ingredients and assess its effectiveness based on them.

Ingredients List

There are seven ingredients listed on the back of Sheer Thermo, with the dosages displayed (always a good sign).

The ingredients contain caffeine, green tea extract, Yohimbine, and a few other lesser known ones.

Rhodiola Rosea Extract (300mg) – An excellent ingredient for reducing fatigue [1], increasing cognition, and improving mood. Rhodiola is usually used for pre workouts, or for people who want to study/work into the late hours. It doesn’t really have any fat burning properties though, so perhaps an odd choice.

Green Tea Extract (300mg)Green Tea Extract is an excellent fat burning ingredient as it both raises your metabolism and oxidises fat [2]. It tends to only work for people who do not habitually take caffeine though, so is not effective for everyone.

Coleus Forksohlii (250mg) – Often used to naturally treat asthma, Coleus Forksohlii can increase testosterone, bone density, reduce fatigue, and may also reduce body fat (particularly in men) [3]. The dosage is about half of what you should be taking per day, but two servings would be perfect.

Caffeine (200mg) – The perfect fat burning ingredient, caffeine is almost always included as it is so effective at raising your metabolism and burning fat. It is also great as a performance enhancer, increasing power, reducing the perception of effort, increasing endurance, and banishing fatigue – it allows you to train harder in the gym and therefore burn more calories.

Bacopa Monnieri (200mg) – Improves memory, attention, reduces anxiety, depression, and potentially blood pressure. Absolutely no use as a fat burner, but a great cognitive enhancer.

5-HTP (150mg) – A pretty decent appetite suppressant, which can therefore lead to weight loss, you should probably be getting this effect from the caffeine anyway, but it’s still a nice addition.

Yohimbine (3mg) – A pretty decent fat burner, but at such a low dose that it would be pretty much ineffective. According to examine.com the best dosage is 0.2mg per kg of bodyweight. So a 70kg man would require 14mg of Yohimbine to see good results.

Final Thoughts

There are some nice touches in this fat burner by Sheer Strength, the company has obviously spent some time trying to find interesting ingredients that can improve mood, and cognitive performance, making Sheer Thermo a good supplement for study/work as well as for the gym.

But it doesn’t really stand out as a fat burner that is going to get you the best results.

People don’t buy fat burners for cognitive enhancement, they buy them to burn calories, and while Sheer Thermo will definitely do that, however there are better alternatives. If you are looking for a great fat burner that can also help you concentrate better, and feel better within yourself then this is the supplement for you though.
